For the first time in the history of college football, a ranked Division 1-A team, #5 Michigan lost to a Division 1-AA school, Appalachian State. Widely considered to be a contender for the National Championship, (prior to tonight’s loss) Michigan actually paid Appalachian State $400,000 to come to Ann Arbor and hand them the most embarrassing loss in the history of college football.

The game was considered so lopsided that Vegas odds makers would not even take bets on Appalachian State. That Appalachian State would loose was considered a forgone conclusion and absolute certainty.

Underdogs rejoice!
